IAQ Services

EAS specializes in the measurement of low level organic compounds in indoor air quality.

  • These methods can be used to determine low level exposure of office workers and homeowners
  • The low level voc methods can also be used for odor studies.

Indoor Air Quality Services

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has become an important issue in both the home environment and in the business/workplace environment. EPA has recognized that most people spend a substantial amount of their time indoors and are exposed to a variety of chemicals that can have substantial short and long term health effects.  EAS has been involved in Indoor Air Quality testing since 1985, and has developed a modified EPA TO-15, IP-1A, and TO-17 target compound list that contains about 100 compounds that are commonly found in indoor air samples.  These compounds help identify fragrances, cleaning products, mold VOC's, cosmetics, hydrocarbon solvents, chlorinated solvents, volatile pesticides, refrigerants, and others.

Commercial Buildings are tested using the same methods as residences, but the expected levels of volatile organic compounds will generally be higher then a residence.  There may also be additional specific chemicals used in the buildings that need to be checked.
